A seven-member screening committee constituted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Governor Godwin Obaseki from contesting in the party’s primaries billed to hold on the 22nd of this month.
The panel particularly picked holes with the National Youth Service Certificate (NYSC) and the testimonial of the Institute of Continuing Education Benin city submitted by Obaseki. This screening brouhaha seems to political watchers as a strike back on the governor over his COVID-19 Order barring his party, the APC from holding direct primaries across the 192 wards of the state in the wake of disagreements between the Governor and loyalists of his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole over the mode of primaries to be used in selecting his candidate for the September polls.
