Editor’s Note: YNaija presents Lagos like you’ve never seen it

Today, YNaija begins an 11-part citizenship series on Lagos, popularly dubbed, “the city that doesn’t sleep“. Known for its welcoming aura and constant vibe, Lagos is home to all. From the street urchin to the upwardly mobile youth; to the politician and the businessmen, the state accommodates every cadre and strata of society.

In our usual manner of telling the untold stories with the  YNaija citizenship series, our writer, Mazi Emeka Nwankwo, unearths the goldmine of the Agege bread, a constant feature in the daily meal of Lagosians; the transformation of Ojodu Berger; the significant historical place of Lagos Island; the nightlife of Allen Avenue; the money swimming ashore on the Ikoyi-Victoria Island-Lekki axis; the forceful eviction of residents from waterfront communities; the tech hub booming in Yaba; and tales from Toni Kan, the Mayor of Lagos.

With series like We Survived Boko HaramHerdsmen HazardsBlood MoneyBeyond Biafra, Biafra’s Forgotten SoldiersSeven Bloody Days of Summer, and much more, we have shown a track record of bringing human angle stories that matter to the citizens.

Because we believe these stories should be told, we welcome you on this journey titled, “So you think you know Lagos“.
