Editor’s Note: Introducing “Biafra’s Forgotten Soldiers”, a 10-part citizenship series on YNaija.com

Today we launch the YNaija.com Biafra’s Forgotten Soldiers series – a special collection of stories telling the war experiences, triumphs, woes and tales of some of the soldiers engaged in the 3-year civil war.

This 10-part series will run for the next 5 days in the month of May, and is part of YNaija’s citizenship series. The idea behind the citizenship series was born out of a larger goal here at YNaija.com, to shine a light on the stories people don’t hear from across the country.

We kicked off this series in September 2016 with our ‘We Survived Boko Haram’ series, following this the month after with our ‘Blood Money’ special, which saw a series of pieces, telling the stories of people from the Niger Delta region.

In 2017, we began with the #InnovationSeries where the enterprise and creativity of young Nigerians was showcased. In February we focused on the cries of citizens over the herdsmen-related crisis across the country.

In March, we told the brave stories of women across the country in commemoration of the #InternationalWomensDay. This was followed in April with Beyond Biafra, a series which portrayed the intelligence, revolution, and overall, a commitment to rising above the odds in the South East.

This series will feature a number of pieces, telling tales from active participants of the war by our reporter.

We invite you to join us.

The stories will run by 3pm (WAT), from Wednesday to Sunday.
