#Ebola: Nigerian man quarantined in Malaga

by Kolapo Olapoju

A Nigerian man resident in Antequera, Malaga has been quarantined after showing potential symptoms of the Ebola virus disease.

He was quarantined on the morning of Monday, 1 September, in Carlos Haya hospital, where he will remain until the test results are known.

The man reportedly informed hospital staff at his local health centre in Antequera that he had recently visited Nigeria.

It is also being reported that despite being provided with an ambulance to transport him to Malaga’s Carlos Haya hospital, the man chose to drive himself in a private car with his wife and two children.

On arrival in Malaga, he walked into the A&E department of the hospital by himself, before he was transferred to the infectious diseases clinic.

Since the importation of the virus into Nigeria by Liberian/American, Patrick Sawyer, the total number of Ebola cases recorded in Nigeria has risen to 16, more recently when new cases were discovered in Port Harcourt. The total number of people who have died from the virus in Nigeria stands at six.
