Obaseki defects to PDP

Don-Pedro Obaseki, a cousin to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Candidate, Godwin Obaseki has defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

The former Managing Director of Raymond Dokpesi‘s Daar Communications said he left the APC due to discrimination and lack of transparency.

He announced his defection on Sunday evening when the leaders of the PDP in the state, led by the state chairman, Dan Orbih, and the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, visited his residence in Benin.

Obaseki contested for APC’s governorship ticket in the state, both lost out to his cousin Godwin. He later joined the Accord Party in a bid to fulfill his gubernatorial ambition but he was not included in the list of aspirants published recently by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said he joined the PDP to stop Governor Adams Oshiomhole from imposing his “surrogate” as his successor.

He said, “If I have decided to join my brothers, I have decided to join this my brother (Ize-Iyamu). More than anything, I am passionate about driving Oshiomhole and the APC out of Edo.

“Edo people should be allowed to decide who should lead them and not by imposing a surrogate.”
