Some of the most beloved Nigerians are individuals who have shown that they can be kind and generous. It has gotten to the point where some go as far as recording their acts of charity so they can post it online just to win some point with the general public.
So far, we can say this is a strategy that has worked for many, particularly for celebrities who are viewed as privileged and venerated and as such should put more effort in being down to earth. But what happens when a celebrity does the exact opposite? What happens when a celebrity is seen on social media as being insensitive? How do people react?
Kaisha, ex Big Brother Naija Lockdown housemate is sure to have the answer, after her Instagram post hit the streets of Twitter. Granted, this one incident shouldn’t define the ex-housemate or create an ugly narrative around her, considering especially that we do not know her person in private, and as such should not be quick to judge. But the video in question, which has gotten her a lot of heat really does looks bad, at least in the eyes of Nigerians.
The video at first seemed atypical of the ex-housemate, she was hyping herself and serving her fans some slay goals, before she suddenly, called for her maid to ask what was for breakfast. The maid, referred to in the video as Deborah responded that she would prepare bread, egg and tea for her, after which Kaisha dismissed her in a way people have described as demeaning.
Of course, it goes without saying that some were pissed off, and they’ve been letting the ex-housemate hear it.
It’s quite interesting to note that Deborah, rather than Kaisha has been trending, and the name has become somewhat of a reference point to denote being rich enough to be able to afford a maid. Hopefully it dies down, and doesn’t become a Nigerian Twitter thing. Deborah means Deborah and not maid.
