Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined the cast for upcoming Netflix movie ”The Old Guard”

It’s always a delight to see Chiwetel Ejiofor in movies, whether he is in a Marvel flick (Doctor Strange) or directing and featuring in his own movie (The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind), we can all agree that the Nigerian-British actor has serious acting chops. Now, according to Variety, the 12 Years a Slave star will star in the adaptation of the graphic novel series The Old Guard, which was created by author Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández.

The Old Guard was published in 2017 and centers on old soldiers who never die, finding themselves trapped in immortality without explanation. The film, coming to Netflix, will tell the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed. On the surface, it’s an exciting plot and it will be interesting to see how he portrays his character, which hasn’t been revealed yet.

Furthermore, Ejiofor has joined Charlize Theron, who has also signed on to produce the movie. Ejiofor and Theron both join Harry Melling (The Ballard of Buster Scruggs) and Veronica Ngo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and the previously announced KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts and Luca Marinelli. No release date has been announced yet.
