Be careful to avoid bomb attack this holiday – DSS tells Nigerians

The Department of State Services (DSS) has called on Nigerians to be wary of packages and unknown persons during the period of Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

According to a statement signed by the spokesman of DSS, Tony Opuiyo, the security force has intelligence reports that terrorists might attack locations with large number of people especially parks and congregations of worshipers.

The spokesperson, however, noted that the DSS “will continue to deploy every window within its constituted mandate to ensure the security and safety of all law-abiding residents and citizens wherever they reside.”

He said, “We therefore call on the general public to be security conscious and to report any suspicious persons/groups or activities to relevant security agencies.”

The federal government had on Thursday declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday in celebration of the Islamic holiday.
