“We can’t ignore this tragedy”: Alicia Keys calls out FG over rescue of Chibok girls

by Isi Esene

Grammy Award winning artiste, Alicia Keys has signed the online petition calling on the government of Nigeria to do more towards rescuing over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno in April.

The girls were reportedly kidnapped from their school, Government Girls’ Secondary School by men believed to be members of the Boko Haram Islamic group.

In an emotion-filled post, Alicia Keys called on well-meaning individuals to join in calling for their release describing the situation as a “tragedy”.

Here’s what she said: “On my lil guys birthday I stand with the mothers of Chibok!! We can’t ignore 6 months of this tragedy!! What if it was you or me? I want to remind you that in this darkness, your voice matters! #BringBackOurGirlsNOW!! Let’s do something about this. I’ve signed this, now you! Sign this petition and make your voices heard.”

    1. Yes! That’s true!! I sign it too!!!

  1. I live in Nigeria. It’s disheartening that some persons still believe that this is a hoax. I doubt blame them though since the wife of the president started the doubting Thomas syndrome. Some persons view it as a political score to undo the president. But the world know for a fact that for over six months now, over 200 maidens are in captivity. This is the 21st century!

The FGN must rise up to the ocassion to have these girls released. It has the capacity to have these girls spend this Christmas with their loved ones at Chibok. What a reunion that day will be.

    It is possible!
