Buzz Review: “Ukwu Nwata” by Flavour ‘Nabania

Flavour underrated ability to build melody with breezy romantic undertones is unmistakable on this lone high-life-infused track off his recently released album Ijele. “Ukwu Nwata” particularly stands out thanks to Flavour’s ability to weave his way through the baseline mostly in his native Igbo language without compromises. This is no doubt inspired by the need to subvert some of the raunchy details of his subject matter.

What really works here, however, is how Flavour rides the instrumentation one breath at a time, occasionally pacing-up on the bridge but returning to a mellow melody only perfect for the intended good vibes. “Ukwu Nwata” is a signature Flavour song where his ode is to eternal love and the beauty of the African woman’s waist.
