“I am the most deserving person of a nomination.”
He even went ahead to list categories he should have been nominated for. Talk of self pride!
“I could have been nominated for best male category, best video category…or even for the song of the year category. I would be cool if I didn’t win but the nominations would have gone a long way.”
He further seized the opportunity to blow his own’s trumpet.
“No artiste has put in much work as I have done this year, I have been working so hard, and I put in my best, which artistes can switch it up like I do it mehn.”
When Olisa tried to play the defense lawyer of the MTV base here by asking “Are you known in African countries like Angola…”
Burnaboy had an answer already even before the question landed!
“I can’t even count the number of countries I have performed in this year but it is sad that I don’t document these things and that’s what makes people unaware of my achievements. Truth is I have been to every African country except North Africa but my new PR is working on the documentation”
Bleh.
And then he was asked to compare himself to Wizkid and Davido.
“I don’t want to mention names but there is no place you would go to that you would not here ‘check and balance’ and three Burnaboy songs being played back to back, how many Nigeria artistes have that achievement like me?”
When asked if he would show up at the MAMAs for the collabo category he was nominated for, he said he would and dared MTV not to send him an invitation.
“Sure I would, MTV has no choice, they have to give me an invitation…”
Another interesting he said
“I wouldn’t have reacted, I don’t even care about the awards, all I care about is my fans…they have had enough of me being robbed”
