The call for the rescue of about 276 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram Islamic gets louder with local and international figures join the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

Celebrities like Wyclef Jean, Keri Hilson, Justin Timberlake, Russel Simmons, Puff Daddy, Chris Brown, 2face Idibia, Annie Idibia, Banky W, Waje, Angelina Jolie and others have called on the Nigerian government to step up efforts in bringing the girls back home safely.

Others who have made their positions known are internationally respected figures like Prof. Wole Soyinka who called on the international community to assist the Jonathan administration in securing the release of the abducted girls; President Barack Obama; former US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, David Cameron, Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan amongst others.

Online protests have been buoyed by sustained agitations on ground. Protests have been organised in Lagos, Port Harcourt, London, New York, Los Angeles and several other cities with more being expected. The Abuja protest was led by no other than Oby Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s former Minister of Education and also the former Vice President of the World Bank for Africa who stepped up to the plate with a determined group of concerned mothers calling for the release of their daughters.

With placards which read “Bring back our Chibok girls”, “Bring back our daughters” and many others, the women defied the elements to take their demands right to the doorsteps of the Jonathan administration vowing to sustain their action until something concrete is not only done but also seen to be done.

Below are images of poignant moments defining the call for more action in bringing back the missing girls of Chibok.
