Following a protest by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno on Thursday over lack of food, the State Government, on Saturday distributed 6, 000 bags of rice and other food items to the IDPs.

The distributed food items include, 1, 500 bags and cartons each of beans, noodles, maize grits and condiments for seasoning.

The Deputy Governor, Usman Durkwa while distributing the items said the government has redeemed its pledges to increase food supplies to the IDPs camps.

Durkwa, however, warned: “Any IDP that diverts and sells these foods items, will be arrested, bundled and returned to Marte by security agencies.”
