‘Boko Haram insurgents attack IDPs camp in Borno’

Boko Haram insurgents on Friday reportedly attacked an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Gamboru Ngala local government area of Borno state, TheCable reports.

According to the news medium, the insurgents stormed the camp in two Hilux trucks at about 11pm.

Bamus Garba, an eyewitness said the insurgents attacked the camp from the rear, firing an RPG into it after jumping the fence.

The insurgents also reportedly detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the camp.

A security personnel said the explosion was followed by intense shooting while the IDPs scampered for safety.

“A lot of the IDPs secured various degrees of injuries by stray bullet while some of them were hit by the bullets,” one of the sources said.

He added that the attackers were, however, repelled by the military.

The attacked IDP camp is currently on lockdown.
