the big 5 Osinbajo at FT africa summit

Good morning.

Here are the top 5 stories you should be monitoring today.

National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, has continued his series of rebuttal against his accuser, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, over an alleged  $26bn contract scam.

Adding to his statement yesterday that he was “not mandated to discuss contracts with Kachikwu,” Baru has called the allegations “unfortunate” and aimed at inciting Nigerians.

Here’s a breakdown every other thing he said and how things got to this point.

Also, Baru seems to be getting a lot of morale boost lately as some Oil and Gas sector unions, including NUPENG, have pledged their support to him.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was in London yesterday for the Financial Times Africa Summit when he was asked the question we’re all dying to know: Is Prof. Osinbaji contesting for president in the upcoming 2019 election?

His answer will shock some of you. Here’s what he said.

Meanwhile, in Lagos state, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is cooking up something major and most likely controversial for the state’s entertainment industry.

The state might soon be placing a ban on the use of drugs and other narcotics in music videos. Here are details of what the state government plans to do.

However, this is not the first time this issue will be raised. In August, the Ministry of Health spoke against Olamide’s ‘Wo’ video which they claimed promoted the abuse of Tobacco — a claim which Olamide responded to. Here’s what he said.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike made some statements yesterday which is already turning heads.

He said in a recent issue of  ‘The Interview’ magazine that he would have “waged war if Northerners stoned him like they did former President, Goodluck Jonathan.”

Wike also said he is ready to die to ensure victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections.

Read his full cringe-worthy statement, here.

Ex-Lagos state governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stepped out of the shadows with a plan to “revive” Nigeria.

He proposed a seven-point agenda, while delivering a lecture in Lagos, that he believes will facilitate the revival of the country’s economy. Here’s a breakdown of all he’s proposing.

However, people are wary to his ‘plans’ at face value, considering a university, which he presides over as Chancellor, has been on strike for at least a year.
