In a reaction to the threat of legal action given by Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has declared his intention to follow the matter through.

In a statement signed on his behalf by Bisi Lawal, Fani-Kayode said the matter has been referred to his “lawyers lawyers who will now take it up.”

“Now that she has put it in the public realm Chief Fani-Kayode is compelled to formally respond. To the assertion that he never knew her and that they were never friends he says this is false and he asks why would he lie?” the statement said.

This morning Cheif Femi Fani-Kayode woke up to find a letter that was published as an advertorial in Thisday Newspaper purportedly by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu’s lawyer threatening to sue him for mentioning her in his article and claiming that she has never met him before. She also said that he was being malicious. The matter has of course been reffered to Chief Fani-Kayode’s lawyers who will now take it up.
Ordinarily he would have not have said a word about this matter because he sympathises with her for whatever she may have been going through. However now that she has put it in the public realm Chief Fani-Kayode is compelled to formally respond. To the assertion that he never knew her and that they were never friends he says this is false and he asks why would he lie? The public evidence is to the contrary. Chief Fani-Kayode would not want to say anything to embarrass her because that would be ungentlemanly.
He sympathises with her delicate situation and once again he expresses his regrets about the fact that his statement about her was misconstrued. We shall just leave it at that.
Femi Fani-Kayode had, in a widely circulated article addressing the question of tribalism and nationality mentioned Bianca Onoh (as she was then known) as someone she had a “longstanding intimate relationship” with in the years before she got married.

What a shame for a former minister of the Fed Rep. So disgraceful that this man was a minister in Nigeria. An irresponsible man who is not fit to be a local Govt chairman was made a minister courtesy of know- me, i – know you Nigerian politics. Even if its true he had a relationship with this lady, must he go to the press with it?
Mr kayode, you are looking 4 cheap popularity, cos real men don’t kiss and tell.
Femi Fani-Kayode is a big fool n an idiot. Why would he put such a statement on d media even if he had dated Bianca b4 she got married n then expect her to accept it hook n sinker? Can’t he respect d person of Mrs Ojukwu. Just imagine a statement “someone I had longstanding intimate relationship with b4 she got married”.
