This month’s citizenship series on YNaija is focused on the South-East part of Nigeria. 

Keeping in line with our commitment to focus on the people that matter and their stories, our reporter, Victor Akhidenor has unearthed several narratives, with both breadth of scope and depth of focus.

From breakthroughs in food to stories about finding success in the midst of literal scraps to a centre focused on fighting unemployment from its very stubborn roots, the one common thread is innovation. This is noteworthy in particular as it stands in stark contrast to the prevalent narratives around people from the south-east as seekers of handouts who do little more than agitate for special treatment.
