Bauchi Gov: Nigerians don’t need permission to live in Ondo forests
Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi State Governor, has stated that Nigerians don’t need any permission from any governor to reside anywhere in the country – The Punch reports
The governor also stated that Nigerians don’t need the permission of Ondo governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, to live in the forests in the South-West state.
“Land is in the hands of the state and federal governments in trust but Nigerians don’t need the permission of governors or the federal government to settle everywhere. You don’t need the permission of the governor of Bauchi or the governor of Ondo to be in the forests of Ondo if you choose to live in the forests because under Section 41 of the constitution, you are free to settle anywhere,” The governor said
Again, El-Rufai makes demands for State Police
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has joined the many Nigerians and national analysts calling for the devolution of power between the Federal Government and 36 states in the country – Channels reports
The governor, who, appearing in a radio programme called ‘Radio Now’s Urgent Conversation’ on Thursday, stated that the state police and devolution of the judiciary is important to save Nigeria from the brink of collapse.
“The first, it is imperative for Federal, state, and community policing. We do not have enough police. One centralised police for the country just has not worked,” governor El-Rufai said in the programme.
Banditry: Sheikh Gumi asks Nigerian government to give bandits ‘Blanket Amnesty’
Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, a popular Islamic cleric, has asked the Federal Government to give repentant bandits ‘blanket amnesty’ to help tackle the current security situation in the country – Sahara Reporters reports
“The Federal government should give them blanket amnesty, then if somebody continues, then we will deal with them.” The cleric stated.
The Islamic scholar stated this on Friday while giving updates on the demands of the bandits over the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Kagara, Niger State.

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger has described as ‘rumour’, the purported release of abducted students and members of staff of Government Science College, Kagara – The Punch reports
Addressing journalists, he said, “Regarding the event of the past few days where we have two serious cases of kidnappings –the NTSA (Niger State Transport Authority) bus that was kidnapped (with passengers). And the second event took place at the Secondary School in Kagara.“
