Atiku meets PDP mammoth crowd in Yola

A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar was welcomed by a large crowd who are members and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Why it matters: Atiku had some days ago dumped the ruling APC, citing “failure” as the reason.

  • Atiku, who has yet disclosed the platform he might be employing to contest in 2019, might actually be returning to the PDP, amid constant persuasion by the leadership of the party.
  • Atiku, who arrived the Yola International Airport and was welcomed by PDP supporters led by the state and local government executives, later went to pay condolence to the family of one of his close friends, late Adamu Yaro before retiring to his residence.
  • Speaking on the development, the Adamawa chairman of PDP, Tahir Shehu, said the party was happy with the development and hoped Atiku would formally declare for PDP.
