[The Alausa Blog]: Can Alausa use their ‘talent’ to bring back the 6 kidnapped Epe boys?

Lagos state government has kicked off it’s 2017 public service week celebrations. The celebrations will highlight the significant & invaluable contributions of Lagos State Public Servants to the growth of Lagos, among the rundown of events during the week will be an event tagged “Health Matters” on Fri,30th June to educate the Public servants on living healthy.

We, of course, do not have a problem with celebrating Public Servants but why there is an “Alausa has Got Talent” variety show beats us.  If Alausa really did have so much talent, then why oh why is the Lagos state government yet to return the 6 kidnapped Epe boys back to their parents.

It has been over a month since 6 boys from Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, were kidnapped and the government has not had any meaningful information on the whereabouts of the children or efforts that have been made to bring them back. A 100 million naira ransom was placed on the heads of the boys still, no word from the Lagos state government, but Alausa got talent.

On June 27, inconsolable parents staged a protest at the Governor’s office saying that they had communicated with the kidnappers and some of them had been told they would no longer negotiate with the government. “If we had not come here today, we won’t have heard anything from the government. The kidnappers said we cannot speak with our children again. They said four of them are ill. We want the government to help us,” one parent said.

In a state that just spent several millions of naira on its 50th-anniversary celebrations, we would expect that given the amount of time the children have been gone and the resources available both monetary and manpower, the good news that they’ve been retrieved would have been aired. All the Lagos state government has done to assure the parents and public are empty promises that havent yielded any results.

Now that Alausa has got talent, we do not want to know the technicalities or the difficulties or the blah blah blah, all we want is the boys back.
