Akwa Ibom governor to dispose Akpabio-acquired private jet

The new governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel, is reported to be prepared to sell the private jet acquired by the immediate past governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio.

According to a report by Vanguard newspapers, Governor Emmanuel is seriously contemplating disposing of the aircraft purchased by his predecessor.

An Akwa Ibom State Government House source was reported to have revealed to Vanguard that the governor was already shopping for buyers of the jet so as to save costs from fuelling and maintaining it.

Emmanuel is said to prefer travelling by chartered helicopters since he became governor a few weeks ago.

The source was quoted to have said: “Governor Emmanuel is not comfortable with the idea of sustaining the ownership of the jet and is contemplating selling it, more so, because of the slash in states’ allocations and the high cost of aviation fuel.”
