Akpabio incurs wrath of the House of Reps., but will he bend?

The news of late has been riddled with the interesting stories surrounding the ‘Niger Delta Development Commission’ NDDC.

It began in an interview, where former MD for the NDDC, spilled the beans on the level of corruption plaguing the NDDC. In her interview, and following subsequent revelations, she detailed how deeply involved in the corruption scheme, the Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, was.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that both the Minister of Niger Delta, and the interim MD of the NDDC, Pondei Kemebradikumo were co-conspirators in an N85billion embezzlement scandal.

It was also discovered that this institution has been a vantage point for corrupt politicians to siphon and loot federal funds. But a now apparent information, is that both Pondei and Akpabio were not acting alone.

In the hearing, before the famous Pondei fainting incident, Akpabio revealed that NDDC contracts worth millions of Naira were given out to members of the national assembly.

This information seemed to enrage Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the House of Reps. He stated clearly that he and a number of the House of Rep members, who he claims he can vouch for, have never received any such contracts.

Earlier today, news got out that he has instructed Akpabio to release the names of the House of Rep members who he claimed to have awarded state contracts. He also threatened that Akpabio has 48 hours to do so, otherwise he would face the full penalty of the law.

Nigerians on Twitter, are reacting to the news, with some eager to see who he would name, while others don’t believe that the threat holds any water.
