Emergency or Political Skit: Acting NDDC MD loses consciousness during hearing

It’s been non-stop drama since the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joi Nunieh, publicly accused the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio of misappropriation of funds allotted to the commission.

This is on the heels on the House of Representatives hearing to get an insight into these allegations. The hearing slated for Monday has quickly divulged into another dramatic scene, as the Acting MD of the commission, Professor Daniel Keme Pondei, fainted mid way into the hearing.

The panel was set up to investigate a N40 billion mismanagement scandal following allegations that the Acting MD, alongside the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akapbio, had commissioned the fund outside appropriate approval.

From the viral videos, a physically distressed Pondei, after which the men who took notice ran to his side. Upon checking on him, they noticed he had lost consciousness and the hearing turned into a pandemonium.

Some of the men there tried helping him but to no avail. He was later taken out the room and the hearing postponed.

Nigerians however seem skeptical of the whole debacle as they are of the opinion that the MD is simply trying to get out of trouble, alluding to the fact that this sort of thing is not new with Nigerian politicians.
