How abducted woman was rescued from kidnappers by police officers

Police officers have rescued a kidnap victim at Okpara in Ethiope East LGA of Delta State. During the rescue operation, one of the suspected kidnappers was shot down, while others fled the scene with bullet wounds.

A 39-year-old suspected rapist, Gbenga Anaorin, was also arrested by the police at Okpanam for defiling a two-year-old girl in the area.

The Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the multiple operation via a statement. It reads, “On October 5, at about 9a.m., the DPO, Isiokolo Division, ASP Iwok Ndifereke, received distress call that a man, later identified as one Abemu Gabriel ‘m’ of Oviore community, who is a teacher with Oruodo Primary School in Ethiope council, was kidnapped along the rail line at Okpara, by unknown gunmen.”

“The DPO mobilised his men, blocked all exit routes in the area and went after the hoodlums with his patrol team. The team caught up with the hoodlums at Utiuyo village in Okpara, where the criminals on sighting the policemen opened fire. In the ensuing gun battle one of the hoodlums was fatally wounded, while the other suspects escaped, and the victim was rescued.”

Kalu also stated that the victim was in shock, and was receiving medical attention in a hospital, adding that efforts have been intensified to track down the escaping criminals.
