First, it was a pandemic and now, a panicdemic | The #YNaijaCover

Women have always experienced rape and sexual cases but during this time of coronavirus, where people are largely at home, the number of cases have skyrocketed. The police revealed that between January and May, about 717 rape incidents were reported across the country. It was also revealed that during the period, the police arrested about 799 suspects in connection with rape cases.

Aside the coronavirus itself, this is becoming a pandemic too. Women aren’t safe anywhere. Even at protests. On social media, we learned that 19-yr-old Oluwatoyin Salau was reportedly murdered in Florida after she tweeted about her sexual assault quite recently.

We’ve chosen to put this on the spotlight, hoping all that men and women of good conscience would push for an end to this vice.
