YNaija Special: ‘I regret not meeting her’ | Bimbo Akintola talks playing late Dr. Stella Adadevoh in 93 Days (LISTEN)

June 30 to October 20, 2014 will forever go down as one of the alarming 93 Days Nigeria has ever faced.

For once, the country was united by a strange common interest – the fight against the much-dreaded Ebola virus disease (EVD), simply known as Ebola brought into the country by Liberian diplomat Patrick Sawyerr.

However thanks to efforts of the team at First Consultants Hospital Obalende, Lagos led by the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh along with rapid action by the state and federal government, the country on October 20, 2014 was declared the first country to effectively contain and eliminate the Ebola threat that was ravaging three other countries in the West African region.

In order to celebrate some of these heroes who put their life on the line in the fight against Ebola and to tell the story behind this historical event, Natives FilmWorks, Michelangelo Productions and the Bolanle Austen-Peters Production collaborated on a movie titled 93 Days.

93 Days stars Bimbo Akintola, Danny Glover, Tim Reid, Somkele Idhalama, Keppy Ekpenyong, Gideon Okeke and other talented actors.

While the movie is set to be screened later this week at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Nigerian premiere holds on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at The Rock Cathedral, Lekki and the movie comes out in cinemas on September 16, 2016.

As we approach the Nigerian premiere, YNaija conducted a special podcast with Bimbo Akintola who plays the role of the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh together with Dotun Olakunri of Michelangelo Productions.

During the podcast, Bimbo Akintola expressed the challenges she faced in an attempt to play the late doctor because Dr. Stella Adadevoh acoording to the acrtress was a ‘superwoman’ and she regrets not meeting her.

Dotun Olakunri however discussed how and why he and other producers of the movie chose to work on such a project.

Listen to Bimbo Akintola, Dotun Olakunri  share behind the scenes moments from the making of the thought provoking movie below in the YNaija Special podcast below:
