“Dead workers get excess salaries in Ekiti” | 7 important things you didn’t read yesterday (but should have)

1. Nigeria is HQ of human trafficking

A report by the United States’ government implies that Nigeria is the headquarters of human trafficking.

Yeah right, HEADQUARTERS!

2. Model survives lesbian-rape

Even though Vanguard described her as a ‘fast-rising Nollywood actress and model’, we are yet to see a flick featuring Queen Adakole.

But that’s not the issue here.

Adakole claims to have survived a serious lesbian attack while on set not-too-long ago.

3. Dead workers get excess salaries in Ekiti

It is absurd enough that dead workers got paid salaries for two years in Ekiti, but getting overpaid in the process is the height of absurdity.

The state has lost N155.7m in two years, due to 1,154 staff (some dead, some living) collecting more money than their actual salaries.

The weird things we encounter nowadays.

4. Who says life can’t start at 91

Never say never is the story of 91-year-old Barbara Beskind, who has proven that a career can be started at any age.

Beskind has started work as a tech designer for IDEO, a firm in Palo Alto, California.

Hopefully, the fact that it took her 2-months to write her resume won’t exactly slow her down, on the job.

5. Your animal(s) may get you prosecuted in Lagos

The era of arresting animals for committing offences, may be thankfully over.

Dear animal-owners in a Lagos, you will be prosecuted for the crimes of your- goats, cats, pigs and monkeys.

The ministry of Agriculture will no longer fold its arms and allow stray animals break the law and get arrested.

6. 31 refineries destroyed in July alone

And we say Nigeria lacks refineries to produce it’s crude?

In an operation that has a really weird name- “Operation Pulo Shield”, the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta area has arrested 18 suspected oil thieves and destroyed 31 illegal oil refineries in multiple raids in July.

7. Better believe it- Alade market will become mega-shopping mall

The famous Alade market will soon become another shopping mall in Lagos, albeit mega.

Lagos State Government WILL redevelop the Market, which is in Ikeja into a N6.9 billion mega-shopping mall.

Master Reality International Concepts Ltd, will enjoy the spoils for 30 years, because they will be investing their money into the project.
