7 major highlights from The Future Awards Africa 2015

It was an amazing night as Africa’s brightest youth, who have excelled in their respective fields in the last calendar year, converged for The Future Awards Africa 2015.

From D’banj‘s stunning entrance to Harry Songz getting the ladies to dance, it was a remarkable ceremony to mark the tenth year of the awards.

  1. D’banj kicked off the show in style

He was carried into the hall on a royal chair by 4 hefty men as he performed his chart topping single, Top Of The World.

2. The impeccable trio of OC Ukeje, Niyola and Chidinma delivered a sterling rendition of the Nigerian National Anthem

3. Darey Art Alade‘s funny jibe at co-host Bonang Matheba

The pair, hosts of the night, gave a good account of themselves. One of their best  moments was when Harry Songz was about to be introduced, and Darey turned to Bonang and said ‘Even your boo get a boo‘ referring to rumored boo D’banj who allegedly has a thing for Adama Indimi.

4. Omawumi‘s Hello perfomance

‘A class apart’ is how you describe the performance of the lawyer-turned singer. Backed by her band, Omawonder as she is fondly called, captivated the audience with her wave-making cover of Adele‘s Hello.

5. Chude Jideonwo‘s inspiring speech

Someone once said: ”A wise man can make people hear more lessons than words spoken”.

This was what transpired on the night as the attendees paid rapt attention to the speech of the co-founder of The Future Awards Africa, Chude Jideonwo who went down memory lane as he gave a very moving charge to guests.

He made 3 standout statements from his speech:

“The African youth needs to move from hash tagging words to hash tagging actions.

“We don’t need part-time citizens, we need the full time ones.

“Africa needs us desperately, critically and urgently”

6. Timi Dakolo‘s heartwarming performance

Timi Dakolo performed his hit single, Wish Me Well to the adoration of guests who exuberantly applauded his performance.

7. Harry Songz got the ladies grooving

Five star music artiste, Harry Songz closed the awards ceremony with hit single Reggae and Blues. He got a lot of people dancing, especially the ladies.
