7 days after writing letter to Ogun community, armed robbers strike [DETAILS]

A-robbery-suspect-arrested-during-an-operation-in-IjokoSeven days after writing residents to prepare for their visit,  a 12-man robbery gang attacked five communities in Ijoko Otta Ifo, local Government area, Ogun state.

On Thursday, 24 July, 2014, the robbers wrote residents of Elerinko Estate and other areas in Ijoko, asking them prepare for a  visit and truly, they carried out the threat seven days later at about 2 a.m.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Agbado Police station under Sango area command confirmed the report saying, he received a distress call from residents that robbers were attacking the communities, after which he quickly mobilised his Anti-Robbery team to the area.

On sighting the police team, the robbers opened fire on them and there was exchange of gun fire between the police and the robbers which led to the death of five of the robbers.

One of the robbers was arrested, while the other six escaped.

Items recovered from the robbers include three motorcycles without registration numbers used for the operation, two locally made short guns, three laptops, 22  stolen mobile phones, jewellery, N85,000, and 20 rounds of live cartridges.
