Universal Africa signed a licensing deal with Mr Eazi for his forthcoming project ‘Life Is Eazi Vol. 2: Lagos to London’.

The deal is said to be exclusive to Africa.

The signing took place in Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, between Mr Eazi and head of Universal Africa, Sipho Dlamini.

This means that the singer’s label, Banku Music and Universal Africa will jointly release his new project in Africa.

The chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay has said that looting of public funds still takes place at the national assembly through budget padding.

In an interview with Punch, Sagay said there is no looting at the executive level.

He said the implementation of treasury single account (TSA) by the Buhari administration has shown that country is making trillions of naira that “nobody knew about”.

Sagay said: “Nobody is sharing any money again — but perhaps at the national assembly looting is still ongoing due to budget padding. Some sharing may be going on at that level, but at the executive level, I can assure you that no sharing is going on.”

Former Governor of Edo, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be docked if the PDP insists that prosecution of suspected looters is selective.

Oshiomhole also faulted the calls by the PDP that the National Assembly should approve the $1 billion the federal government wants to spend on security.

“I think that if other Nigerians don’t understand the power of transparency, the right to know, the media should uphold that right and defend it. What was stolen was not from private purse; the house that was destroyed was not a private residence.  We are talking of resources which if it is distributed on basis of equality divide by 180 million people you will be a lot richer.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is not sure that current officers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) can meet the conditions for their re-election.

Buhari said he was not sure of the “practicality of present serving officers’ ability” to meet the conditions prescribed for their re-election.

The President stated, “I also believe that the current executives should be free to vie for elective positions in the party if they so wish, as permitted by our Party constitution.”

Still on elections, President Buhari officially declared his intention to run for the Presidency in 2019.

According to the President’s Personal Assistant on New Media Engagement, Bashir Ahmad, President Buhari made this known at the NEC meeting.

The Senate suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for 90 days over his comment that the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010 to reorder the sequence of polls in a general election was targeted at President Buhari.

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions had investigated Omo-Agege’s comment based on a petition by Senator Dino Melaye.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, however, pleaded that the duration of the suspension be reduced to 90 days (six months), which was unanimously granted.

The Nigerian Police, Kaduna Command, invited Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) in an ongoing investigation on a homicide.

The Police Commissioner, Austin Iwar wrote to the senator asking him to appear on April 30 at the Command Headquarters in Kaduna for questioning.

“This is in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide transferred to this office by 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, alongside with exhibit audio CD in which your name was mentioned by the principal suspect,” Iwar said in the letter to Sani.

The vice-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Eyitope Ogunbodede, promised that decisive action would be taken against those found culpable in the sex-for-marks scandal rocking the school.

In a leaked telephone conversation, Prof. Richard Akindele, demanded sex to award pass mark to an unidentified female student who failed a course.

In a statement, the vice-chancellor said a breach of regulations of the university’s code of conduct is responsible for the scandal.

He added that the university had begun the process of identifying the persons involved.

“The attention of the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has been drawn to an audio recording, now trending on the social media, of a telephone conversation ostensibly between one Professor Akindele and a female student of the university,” the statement read.

President Buhari has approved the appointment of chief executive officers of agencies in the Federal Ministries of Health, Information and Culture, Education, Power, Works, and Housing, and Resident Electoral Commissioners in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appointments include new rectors for some polytechnics.

President Buhari while meeting with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on Wednesday, linked the killer-herdsmen to the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi.

Responding to Welby’s comment on the herdsmen and farmers’ clashes in some parts of the country, Buhari said, “The problem is even older than us. It has always been there but now made worse by the influx of gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region.

“Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons. The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.”
