10 ways to find the child in you

We all know how a hearty laugh can work wonders when it comes to healing

1. Shower yourself with compliments
Look into the mirror and compliment yourself. Stop looking at the lines and wrinkles and start appreciating the beautiful you — the perfect father, mother, sibling, son/daughter and friend that you are.

2. Laugh out loud!
LOL. We all know how a hearty laugh can work wonders when it comes to healing – think laughter clubs. If you cannot join a laughter club just watch a movie and laugh. Don’t have time for a movie? Stuckto the PC all the time? No worries- just google some jokes and laugh out loud.

3. Hug a child
Children are said to have a tremendous amount of positive, healing energy radiating out of them. Try hugging a child— you are bound to feel that instant bliss. Connect with kids and feel the change.

4. Eat that lollipop, lick that ice-cream
Stop counting calories for a while — just let go. Forgotten how licking an ice-cream slowly, could feel? Have you thought of licking that large lollipop you have always wanted to but stopped yourself thinking it would look silly? For once you can stop thinking and indulge yourself.

5. Break into a jig, sari and all!
So what if you don’t know how to dance? So, what if you are wearing a sari/salwar kameez and think it would be inappropriate? Stop worrying about what other people will think and let go of yourself. An impromptu bindass jig will lift your spirits.

6. Play with your pet
This can help you de-stress in the fast forward mode. Your mind will feel fresh. Talk to your pets — dog, cat, fish, bird, hamster… They are amazingly patient and generous listeners. If you don’t have pet talk to a plant/tree in the neighbourhood. Just open your heart to it.

7. Call up your friend/sibling
Have you been stalling this for long? Don’t anymore. Pick up your phone and dial that number. Listen and share. Catch up on the gossip, on life. All that is pent up will disappear and you will feel lighter.

8. Speak to that stranger
You notice him/her everyday while traveling to work. That smart-looking old lady, that young boy — talk to them. Strangers can sometimes make you feel so special and free. Trust us you will be richer afterward.

9. Read your favourite comic book
Pick up that old Tinkle, or your battered copy of Asterix and Obleix. Or that complete hardbound volume of Tintin you had bought a few years ago. Get lost in those pages and find yourself.

10. Taste the raindrops
How long has it been since you actually got wet in the rains without all these fears holding you back — what will people think? What if I catch a cold?
